The Moundridge Community has recently affiliated with the McPherson County Community Foundation to form the Moundridge Community Foundation. The goal of the foundation is to establish a means to benefit a wide variety of non-profit organizations in their efforts to improve health care, human services, education, arts and culture or other charitable initiatives which enhance the Moundridge community.
The Foundation will be organizing over the next several months. Part of this process is filling their board of directors. They are actively looking for individuals from the community who are passionate about making Moundridge a better place to live. Community foundations are built through an accumulation of funds anywhere from a group of first graders lemonade stand proceeds all the way up to an individual bequeathing their entire estate to the foundation upon their passing and everything in between. The board members mission will be to educate the public about how a community foundation works, guide many different types and levels of donations into the foundation and be responsible for overseeing the disbursement of grants as they become available.
Grants from endowed funds are made only from fund income, keeping the principal gift to the Foundation permanent. By maintaining the principal value, annual earnings can provide ongoing support to various organizations and programs. All non-profit organizations that are interested in receiving grants from the foundation are asked to contact the board members so they can be considered when that time comes.
The Moundridge Community Foundation is applying for a matching grant program being offered by the Kansas Health Foundation (KHF). If approved, this will provide for the value of a donation to be increased by as much as fifty percent through matching dollars from KHF. So $100.00 donated transforms into $150.00 of value to the Community Foundation.
Following are the present board members and their contact information. Contact one of them if you are interested in being a board member or are in charge of a non-profit organization in the Moundridge community and would like to be considered for a grant in the future.
